August 2020

The Isle of Wight Distillery in the UK completed the installation of a complete bottling and labelling line for their Mermaid Gin brand.

The design of the line presented a few challenges all the way, due to the unstable reverse conical shape of the bottle. This creates a high baricentre and a top heavy bottle. The solution involved: —

(1) An extra long in feed entry worm into the filler

(2) A linear design of the exchange points between bottle conveyor point with a special design of the infeed into the labeller

(3) Extra independent transport motors on the conveyor — each motor managed by a centralised control panel. This co-ordinates the accumulation and stop and go of each piece of the conveyor, avoiding extra pressure on more than two bottles, thus avoiding toppling by domino effect. [ Full Story and Video ]
